Ahpra
Ahpra explained in plain English: what it means, what to ask and how it relates to Australian online care.

Ahpra is the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency. It works with National Boards in the regulation of registered health professions. Its public register allows people to check a practitioner's registration status and relevant published details. A provider's advertising statement is not a substitute for checking the individual practitioner. Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency: Tips for using the public register
Use the public register carefully
Search using the clinician's name or registration number where available. Check that the profession and identifying details match the person you are consulting. Similar names can belong to different people, so avoid assuming the first result is the correct one.
Read the current status and any relevant published information. Registration details can change. If you are uncertain about the result or cannot find the practitioner, use Ahpra's own guidance or contact process rather than relying on an unrelated directory.
Understand what registration does and does not show
Registration indicates that a practitioner is registered within the applicable profession and category. It does not guarantee that every requested treatment is suitable, that an online appointment can address every condition or that a service outcome is assured. Check the actual qualifications or specialist registration relevant to a claim. Do not assume that a generic badge on a website establishes every doctor's individual background. You can ask the service for the identity of the clinician providing care.
How this relates to Doccio
Doccio describes its clinicians as Australian AHPRA-registered doctors. During care, you should know which doctor is assessing you and how to contact the service about the consultation. Use Doccio's online doctor information for the service pathway.
If your question concerns a clinical decision, ask the treating service for an explanation and next steps. If it concerns registration, check the public register. Keeping those questions separate helps you find the appropriate source of information without treating either a marketing claim or a registration listing as proof of a promised prescription, certificate or health outcome.
