See an Australian doctor online

You can consult an Australian-registered doctor online through Doccio for suitable everyday health concerns. The doctor assesses your symptoms and history, explains the options and decides whether online care is appropriate. A consultation may lead to advice, further assessment, a clinically appropriate prescription or referral, but none is guaranteed. Check current appointment availability before booking, and choose urgent in-person care rather than waiting online in an emergency.

Consultation fees and Medicare

Doccio's full doctor consultations are $59 during business hours and $79 after hours. Business-hours pricing applies from 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday, using the time zone displayed at booking. Check the applicable price before confirming your appointment.

These are private-fee appointments, not advertised bulk-billed consultations. Medicare funding for telehealth depends on the relevant item and eligibility rules; online care is not universally excluded. Services Australia explains the current criteria. Do not assume that a rebate applies to a Doccio booking unless explicitly confirmed.

The consultation fee is separate from pharmacy charges, external tests, specialist appointments and later consultations. A request for a prescription or referral is assessed clinically rather than sold as a guaranteed document.

For eligible simpler requests, one-day certificates start at $19 and repeat-prescription requests are $29. Those pathways do not replace a full assessment when your concern is more complex. Compare the service you actually need, not only the lowest price on the website, and read full pricing.

What an online consultation can and cannot do

The starting point is a medical conversation

An online appointment lets you explain the history and discuss a clinical plan without first travelling to a clinic. It still needs enough information to support a safe decision. Healthdirect describes the role of virtual care.

Tell the doctor what concerns you most and what outcome you were hoping to discuss. Include symptoms that seem inconvenient or unrelated, especially changes that could alter the urgency.

Be ready for the assessment

Have a current medicine list, relevant results and details of previous care. Choose a private place where you can speak freely, and provide your current location rather than assuming the address on your account is where you are attending from.

Tell the service in advance about communication, accessibility or interpreter needs. An appointment works better when those needs can be considered before the consultation begins.

Remote care has a boundary

A doctor may need an examination, measurements or investigations that cannot be completed through a screen. The right outcome can therefore be a recommendation to attend another service, rather than trying to finish everything online.

Do not use Doccio as an emergency department. Call 000 for a medical emergency, including severe breathing difficulty, suspected stroke or significant chest pain. A routine booking is not an emergency response system.

Keep care connected

Share relevant records and ask how the plan should be followed up with your usual clinician. The RACGP highlights continuity and appropriate integration of telehealth.

Before finishing, clarify whether further appointments are needed and who is responsible for reviewing any requested results. A prescription, certificate or referral is one possible part of care, not a substitute for understanding the problem and the next step.

Choose the right next step

Book an online consultation or compare after-hours care and certificate requests.

AHPRA-registered doctors

Every consult is with an Australian-registered doctor, accountable to the same standards as your local doctor.

Private and secure

Encrypted consults and records. Certificate checks reveal only what an employer needs to confirm.

Transparent pricing

$19, $29, $59 or $79. You see the price before you start and pay nothing if a doctor can't help.
