Weekend online doctor

Speak with a doctor on the weekend

You can book a Saturday or Sunday online doctor consultation with Doccio when a suitable appointment is available. Weekend full consultations use the $79 after-hours rate. The doctor reviews your concern before recommending advice or further care; a weekend booking does not guarantee a prescription, certificate or referral. Check availability and remember that an urgent illness or injury may need an in-person service rather than a routine online appointment.

Online consultations available during service hours

Saturdays and Sundays fall outside business hours (8am–6pm Mon–Fri, Sydney time), so weekend consults are $79 rather than the $59 weekday price.

Not for emergencies

Weekend consults are for problems that can wait a little but not until Monday, such as an infection, a certificate for a shift, or a repeat script. Call 000 for any emergency.

Weekend pricing and Medicare

A full Doccio consultation on Saturday or Sunday costs $79. Doccio's $59 business-hours rate applies from 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday, using the time zone shown at booking. The weekend rate applies to results reviews, weight-management consultations and referral assessments as well as general doctor appointments.

Doccio's advertised consultations are privately charged, not bulk billed. Having a Medicare card does not by itself change the price. Services Australia explains that bulk billing depends on the service and provider. Do not assume a rebate is available unless the booking information explicitly confirms it.

The fee covers the consultation. Medicines, external tests, procedures and another clinician's appointment are separate. Eligible short certificate and repeat-request pathways retain their own prices; they are not substitutes for a full consultation when the problem needs more assessment.

Consider whether the available appointment and the services open locally can meet your needs. If an examination is required, paying for an online consultation does not include that separate service. For non-urgent ongoing concerns, your usual practice may offer an appropriate alternative. See pricing before booking.

Planning healthcare around the weekend

Being available online is only part of access

A doctor conversation may be possible on a weekend while a preferred pharmacy, collection centre or imaging clinic is closed. Ask what needs to happen next and whether it can safely wait.

Healthdirect's after-hours information outlines different services and how to find local options. Do not assume that receiving a request form means the investigation can be completed immediately.

Give the doctor the existing context

Weekend care often involves a clinician who has not seen you before. Bring recent results, the names of medicines and any instructions from your usual doctor. Explain whether you need a new assessment or help understanding an existing plan.

If you have an appointment booked for the following week, mention it. A useful weekend plan may focus on what is appropriate now and what should be followed up with the team already managing your care.

Choose an examination when one is needed

Online care cannot assess every injury or examine every symptom. For an appropriate urgent but non-life-threatening concern, check the Medicare Urgent Care Clinic finder. Local opening hours and scope should be confirmed.

Call 000 for a medical emergency. Do not use a weekend appointment queue for severe breathing difficulty, significant chest pain, stroke-like symptoms or collapse.

Keep documentation accurate

If you miss a weekend shift, explain the actual dates and the effect of the illness on your work. The doctor decides whether a certificate is supported. A Monday deadline does not justify changing the issue date or certifying an unsupported period.

Use the work certificate pathway for straightforward documentation requests, and choose a full consultation for symptoms that need broader assessment. Check how any issued document should be submitted to the recipient.
