Online doctor consultations after hours
You can book an after-hours online doctor consultation with Doccio when appointments are available and your concern is suitable for remote assessment. Full consultations outside business hours cost $79. A doctor reviews the situation before deciding on appropriate advice or further care; an after-hours booking does not guarantee a prescription or remove the need for an examination. Do not wait online for a medical emergency.
Business hours are 8am–6pm Monday to Friday, Sydney time, when a consult is $59. Outside that window — evenings, weekends and public holidays — the same doctor care is $79.
Business hours 8am–6pm Mon–FriNot for emergencies
After-hours consults suit non-urgent problems that can't wait until tomorrow, such as a sudden infection or the need for a certificate. For anything life-threatening, call 000 straight away.

After-hours costs and Medicare
A full after-hours Doccio consultation is $79. The business-hours rate is $59 from 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday, using the time zone displayed at booking. Evening and weekend consultation pricing therefore differs from the weekday daytime rate. Confirm the price shown for your selected appointment.
Doccio's advertised appointments are private-fee services. They are not automatically bulk billed because you have a Medicare card or because another clinic is closed. Other providers may offer different funding arrangements. Services Australia explains bulk billing.
The $79 covers the doctor consultation, not pharmacy products, external investigations or an appointment with another provider. Separate certificate and eligible repeat-request pathways have their own prices; choose a full consultation when you need the health concern assessed rather than only an administrative request.
Availability and urgency are separate from price. Paying an after-hours fee does not buy emergency response or priority over another patient's clinical needs. If there is no suitable appointment, use an appropriate local service rather than waiting simply because you have started an online request. See pricing for the current service options.
Choosing care when your usual clinic is closed
After-hours does not mean emergency care
An evening health concern may be suitable for a doctor consultation, but severe symptoms need an emergency response. Call 000 for serious breathing difficulty, suspected stroke, significant chest pain or collapse. An online booking system cannot provide the immediate assessment of an emergency department.
Healthdirect's after-hours guide explains how pharmacies, clinics, telephone advice and emergency services have different roles.
Think through the whole care pathway
An online conversation may happen outside ordinary clinic hours, but a pharmacy, collection centre or imaging provider may have different opening times. Tell the doctor if you cannot access a recommended service promptly.
Ask whether a suggested next step can safely wait, rather than assuming that a request form means everything can be completed that night. If an examination is needed, discuss where to seek it and how urgently.
Prepare information before the appointment
Have your medicines, allergies and relevant results available. Include anything you have taken since the symptoms started. Provide your current location and a reliable contact number so the consultation is based on where you actually are.
If the appointment concerns ongoing care, explain the existing plan and what changed. An unfamiliar doctor should not be expected to reconstruct a complex history from the name of a medicine alone.
Know the alternatives
Medicare Urgent Care Clinics offer a separate in-person pathway for appropriate urgent, non-life-threatening concerns. Check the official clinic finder for locations and details.
For uncertainty about which service to use, healthdirect can provide telephone guidance on 1800 022 222. These alternatives are not Doccio services. The appropriate choice depends on urgency, local availability and whether your problem needs a physical assessment.
