Need a doctor near you? Consider the right kind of care.
An online doctor may help when you need medical advice near you but do not need a physical examination. Doccio provides telehealth, not a walk-in clinic in your suburb. Check appointment availability and clinical suitability before booking. If you need hands-on assessment, a procedure or urgent care, a local service may be the better choice; this page explains how to compare those options rather than implying a nearby Doccio clinic exists.
Consults are $59 during business hours (8am–6pm Mon–Fri, Sydney time) and $79 outside those hours, no matter which state you're in.
Business hours 8am–6pm Mon–FriNot for emergencies
This service is for non-emergency problems that don't need a local, in-person clinic. Call 000 for anything life-threatening.
How to choose your pathway

Consider urgency
use emergency care for serious symptoms rather than comparing routine appointments.
Check examination needs
ask whether the problem requires hands-on assessment or a procedure.
Compare availability and cost
review online options and suitable local services.
Book and prepare
provide relevant records and your current location for the consultation.
Online fees and local alternatives
A Doccio consultation costs $59 during business hours or $79 after hours. Business-hours pricing is 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday, using the time zone displayed at booking. These are private-fee appointments, and a Medicare rebate should not be assumed.
A nearby practice may have different fees, billing arrangements and access to your existing records. Not every clinician bulk bills, and eligibility and provider arrangements should be checked when booking. Services Australia explains bulk billing and finding providers.
Online care can avoid an initial trip when it is suitable, but it does not guarantee that no further travel will be needed. If the doctor recommends an examination, the separate provider's fee is not included in your Doccio consultation.
Also consider the complete pathway: pharmacy access, test collection and follow-up may still involve local services. Ask which costs apply before proceeding. For a simple certificate or eligible repeat request, a separate Doccio pathway may be more appropriate than a full appointment. See pricing and medical certificates for the options.
Online access is not the same as a nearby clinic
Start with what the problem requires
The right service depends on the assessment you need, not just the distance on a map. A wound needing treatment, an injury needing examination or another hands-on problem may be better assessed locally. An online service should be clear about that boundary.
Healthdirect's Service Finder can help locate health services. Confirm opening hours and the service offered rather than assuming every listing can manage your particular concern.
Make your location clear
Tell Doccio where you are physically located during the consultation, including when travelling within Australia. The doctor needs to understand what local follow-up might be practical. This is different from claiming that the consulting clinician is located in your suburb.
Do not book while driving or from a setting where you cannot speak safely and privately. A nearby parking space is not useful if you cannot participate in the assessment properly.
Keep your regular care connected
If you already have a local clinician managing the problem, bring their plan and relevant results. An online appointment may provide additional access, but it should not require you to restart the history from fragments every time.
The RACGP's telehealth position highlights the importance of appropriate integration and continuity. Discuss whether follow-up should occur with your usual practice.
Know when not to compare booking options
In an emergency, call 000. Significant chest pain, severe breathing difficulty, collapse or stroke-like symptoms should not wait while you search for the cheapest or closest routine appointment.
For less urgent concerns, take a moment to compare what each service can actually do. The most convenient booking is the one that can provide an appropriate assessment, not simply the first available link in a search result.
Choose care that fits the need
