Certificate verification ID
Certificate verification ID explained in plain English: what it means, what to ask and how it relates to Australian online care.

A certificate verification ID is an identifier used to check whether a document was issued through the stated service. Doccio certificates carry an ID that employers can check without a verification charge. The check concerns authenticity; it does not decide an employee's leave entitlement or replace the original clinical assessment.
What the check is for
A recipient can use the identifier through Doccio's certificate verification service. Use the official page rather than sending a certificate to an unrelated website. Check that you entered the ID exactly as shown and are reviewing the correct document.
Authenticity is one question. Whether the certificate addresses the relevant dates, purpose or workplace evidence requirement is another. A genuine document can still prompt a request for clarification about what it says, and that should be handled through the appropriate process. Fair Work guidance on notice and medical evidence
Protect the patient's information
A verification process should not be treated as permission to obtain an unrestricted medical history. Ask only for information needed to resolve the document question. Health information is sensitive and should be handled through appropriate channels. Office of the Australian Information Commissioner: Health information
If the ID cannot be verified, first check for a typing error or an incorrect link. Contact the issuing service for clarification. A technical problem should not automatically be treated as proof of fraud, and the recipient should not alter the document to make it match an expected result.
If a correction is needed
The patient should ask the issuing clinic to review an error in their name, dates or other details. Keep the original and any corrected version according to the recipient's process. Do not change the certificate yourself.
For the broader clinical pathway, read Doccio's medical certificate guide. The doctor decides whether a certificate is appropriate. An employer's separate decisions about leave payment or evidence are governed by the relevant employment arrangements, not by the presence of a verification code alone.
