A mental health treatment plan is a structured plan prepared with an eligible clinician for someone with a mental health condition. It records needs, goals and treatment options and may support access to Medicare-subsidised psychological services. A plan does not mean every appointment is free or that all online services can prepare one.
What happens during the planning appointment?
The clinician asks about symptoms, function, history, safety and what you want help with. You may discuss psychological treatment, other supports and follow-up. Book the appropriate appointment length and tell the practice that you want to discuss a plan rather than assuming it fits into any short consultation.
Bring details of previous treatment and any professionals already involved. You can write down concerns if they are difficult to explain aloud. The plan should make sense to you, not simply satisfy an administrative requirement.

How do Medicare sessions work?
Eligible patients may access a limited number of individual and group services under the relevant arrangements. Referrals, reviews and annual limits apply. The treating professional may charge a gap, so ask about fees and availability before booking.
A plan is not a voucher for unlimited care, and eligibility should be confirmed using current guidance. If you have already used sessions in the calendar year, tell the referring clinician. Changing providers does not automatically reset annual limits.
Can I obtain one from Doccio?
Check the service's current scope and billing arrangements before booking for this specific purpose. This glossary explanation does not confirm that Doccio prepares Medicare-funded plans. Your regular GP may be best placed to coordinate ongoing care and review.
For immediate danger or inability to stay safe, call 000. Lifeline is available on 13 11 14 for crisis support. A treatment-plan appointment is a planned-care pathway and should not delay urgent help. See Doccio's online doctor service for suitable routine care enquiries.
Where to go next
Read online doctor consultations to understand the relevant service. A doctor decides whether a consultation, examination, referral or another pathway is appropriate for your situation.
