Telehealth rebate
A telehealth rebate is a Medicare benefit or other eligible reimbursement for a remote healthcare service.

A telehealth rebate is a Medicare benefit or other eligible reimbursement for a remote healthcare service. It is separate from the fee charged by the provider. Not every online consultation qualifies, and the amount depends on the service and applicable rules. Confirm eligibility and expected out-of-pocket costs before booking.
Why can the rebate be less than the fee?
Providers can charge a fee that differs from the Medicare benefit for an eligible service. The remaining amount is generally your out-of-pocket cost. If no benefit applies, you may be responsible for the full fee. Bulk billing is a different arrangement in which the benefit is accepted as full payment for the item.
Ask for the total consultation fee, the expected benefit if eligible and whether a claim will be submitted for you. A statement that Medicare supports telehealth generally does not confirm a rebate for your particular booking.
For the Australian guidance behind this explanation, see Services Australia: Who can claim telehealth services under MBS or DVA.
What can affect eligibility?
The clinician, appointment type, patient circumstances and item requirements matter. Some GP services involve established-relationship or MyMedicare rules and exemptions; other services have their own criteria. Phone and video appointments can also have different item arrangements.
Avoid relying on an old online table or applying geographic rules from one service to another. Check current Services Australia information and ask the billing provider to clarify uncertainty. Keep receipts and any claim reference if a benefit is being sought.
Does Doccio offer a rebate?
The supplied Doccio model is pay per consultation. Use its current pricing and bulk-billing information rather than assuming a Medicare claim is available. This general definition does not promise reimbursement for a Doccio appointment.
Clinical decisions remain separate from funding. A doctor may recommend examination, tests or referral even when those involve additional costs. Ask about likely charges where practical, but do not delay emergency care while trying to establish a rebate.
Where to go next
Read consultation pricing to understand the relevant service. A doctor decides whether a consultation, examination, referral or another pathway is appropriate for your situation.
