Medical Certificates in Melbourne
You can request a medical certificate online in Melbourne from an Australian-registered doctor, without travelling to a practice. Our doctors are registered in Australia and can assess anyone located in Victoria, including everywhere across Greater Melbourne. Tell Doccio what has happened, the dates involved and what your work or study requires, and the doctor decides whether a certificate is appropriate and what it should say.
Online consultations available during service hoursWhat's on the certificate
- Your name and the relevant dates
- A statement that you were medically unfit for work or study
- The doctor's name and AHPRA registration number

Medical certificates in Melbourne
General practice capacity is tightest in Melbourne's northern and western growth corridors, and inner-city practices increasingly charge a gap. For a one or two-day certificate, an online request is usually the shortest path.
Melbourne employers accept an ordinary medical certificate as evidence for an absence, consistent with Fair Work guidance. Doccio certificates carry a verification reference so an employer can confirm one is genuine.
The University of Melbourne, Monash, RMIT, Deakin and La Trobe accept a medical certificate in support of special consideration. Each has its own form and time limit, so submit it through the university's own system.
Requests are reviewed 8am–6pm Monday to Friday, Sydney time, which is the same clock as Melbourne. Outside that window the after-hours rate applies.
Duration and pricing
A one-day request costs $19 and a two-day request costs $29. For three days or more, a doctor consultation costs $59 during business hours or $79 after hours. Paying for a longer request does not guarantee a longer certificate.
Business hours 8am–6pm Mon–FriWho this is for
- People located in Victoria who are unwell and need evidence of an absence
- Employees asked for documentation for a missed shift or day
- Students needing evidence for an extension or special consideration request
- Carers who needed time away to look after someone else
What a certificate can't do
- It is not a fitness-for-duty clearance for a safety-critical role
- It is not a substitute for an examination when one is needed
- It cannot be backdated beyond what the doctor can clinically justify
